About The Artist
I am Adila, an acrylic painter living and working in Melbourne, Australia.
I was born in Malaysia and spent my childhood surrounded by century-old trees, wild flora, and the tropical Eden of my grandparents’ land. The vibrant sarongs and batik worn by the women around me captivated my young imagination. Their colors, patterns, and textures felt like a language of their own. I often dreamed of creating my own designs, playing with endless gradients and motifs. In 2007, I picked up a brush to explore that curiosity, not knowing then that it would grow into the heart of my artistic journey.
Over time, my art evolved from pattern exploration into a deeper expression of memory, spirit, and place. What began as a visual curiosity has transformed into a soulful practice that weaves together beauty, storytelling, and symbolism. I continue to follow what feels instinctive, allowing my creative process to shift and flow as I do.
