This painting was inspired by Invictus, a poem by William Ernest Henley that speaks of resilience, self-mastery, and unshakable inner strength.

She is the embodiment of the final verse:

“I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.”

I painted this piece at a time when I needed to reclaim my power and sovereignty. It became a visual affirmation, a declaration in colour, form, and presence.
